Yes, Sunday's 30-24 victory over Minnesota turned into a nailbiter, and yes, the Detroit Lions finally won a divison title after 30 years. Lions fans wouldn't have settled for less.
Either would Lions General Manager Brad Holmes.
Colton Pouncy of The Athletic writes:
There is something so gratifying about seeing a vision years in the making come to life, right before your eyes.
On Sunday, it came to life for Brad Holmes, the draft-obsessed Detroit Lions general manager who built this thing from scratch. For Dan Campbell, the outside-the-box hire, coaching a team nobody wants to box with. For a staff comprised of former players, who get to see the knowledge they’ve passed down to the next generation play out each and every Sunday. For a young roster, too fearless, and perhaps too naive, to be overwhelmed by the pressure those before them have succumbed to. And, most importantly, for a fan base that has waited 30 long years to see its beloved Lions win a division title.
Wait no more, Detroit. After a 30-24 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, the Lions — for the first time since 1993 — are division champions.
