A gunman stole a car from Seaholm High School in Birmingham early Tuesday morning after accosting a maintenance worker and reportedly one shot may have been fired. The incident and subsequent investigation has caused school officials to cancel classes for the day.

WDIV: The gunman demanded the maintenance worker drop everything and fired a shot into the air.

Police said the maintenance man complied and started running into the school. Police said another shot was fired, but the maintenance worker wasn't hurt.

The suspect stole the maintenance worker's car.

Following a police pursuit, a suspect is in custody.
