East Lansing, home of Michigan State University, is looking to expand its smoking ban.
The current ban prevents people from smoking tobacco inside public places or within 50 feet of an entrance to a public place, Beth LeBlanc of The Lansing State Journal reports.
A proposed ordinance to be considered by the city council Tuesday night would extend that ban to parks, plazas and recreational facilities.
In August, Michigan State University banned smoking on campus, including in vehicles, on lawns and on sidewalks.
