Elon Musk tweeted some months back that he would be the man to "fix the water in any house in Flint that has water contamination above FDA levels." This month, the charitable foundation of American's short-attention-span billionaire, the founder of the Tesla electric-car brand, pledged $423,600 to buy Chromebooks for all Flint middle schoolers, MLive reports.

To be sure, Musk has a lot on his plate. The school superintendent seems grateful, just the same:

“We will begin this winter with our current seventh graders moving into eighth grade and how they use that technology and our current sixth graders and how they use that technology (moving into seventh grade,” said Derrick Lopez, superintendent of Flint schools. “They will be able to take them home and use them as an instructional tool so that is power in and of itself.”

This is not Musk's only contribution to Flint's well-being. In October, the Musk Foundation spent around $480,000 to install new, filtered drinking fountains in all Flint public schools. "Fixing the water," however, is a difficult task with no easy solution that doesn't involve digging up a lot of pipes. Still, any help with education is sure to be appreciated.
