Sean Larkins
Sean Larkins, the chief of Detroit's EMS, has been replaced amid concerns about slow response times and problems with insubordinate employees and battles he had with field officers, WDIV reports.
Rod Meloni of WDIV reports that Lt. Angela Turner, 54, will take over on Monday, replacing Larkins, who was appointed Detroit's EMS chief in February by Mayor Mike Duggan.
For one thing, Meloni reports, Larkins had vowed to reduce the response time to the national standard of eight minutes. But that never happened. The response time dropped from 14 to 12 minutes.
Meloni reports that Larkins came in with great hopes and new equipment including state-of-the-art , $170,000 ambulances.
Meanwhile, Meloni reports, citing unnamed sources, that some are concerned about Turner's qualifications and her questionable relationship with the rank and file.
Meloni reported that some in the department thought Larkins was doing a good job. He is expected to be demoted.
