We studied AP style, not medical science, so this stay-home layperson's take may reflect just a Sunday statistical quirk.
Still, it's worth noting that state data no longer pushes the Covid curve exponentially higher. In fact, the number of new diagnoses and newly reported deaths each are at the lowest levels all month:

New cases: 633, advancing the total 2% higher to 31,424 confirmed cases since mid-March

New deaths: 83, for a cumulative total of 2,391
Certainly, nearly seven dozen deaths and over 600 more lung virus patients can't be cast as good news. Fully justified relief must await single-digit increases or none at all.
At the same time, possible signs of flattening and a potential turn are welcome -- if sustained into May.
One caution: The previous Sunday's numbers also were relatively low, though slightly above today's. (Easter data showed 95 new deaths and 645 added cases, a 2.7% rise in total cases.)
But two weeks ago on April's first Sunday, the Department of Health and Human Services reported 1,463 new cases (a 10% increase).

Another perspective to consider: Total cases have doubled statewide in the last 14 days, but rose 27.5% this past week.
Those are the numbers, as we'll continue presenting each afternoon while leaving projections or conclusions to people with more than four years of college.
Here's what else we know:

Henry Ford Health System in Metro Detroit has discharged 1,419 Covid patients in the last 30 days.

Beaumont Health has released 1,934 since March1.

The state lists 3,237 as "recovered," defined as people who are alive at least 30 days after diagnosis.
Lastly, Metro Detroit's cumulative caseloads and fatalities. (Hospital discharges and recoveries still are part of total cases.)
