Five months after its Detroit premier, the "BURN" documentary is reaching theaters in 14 states this month and next.

It's being shown at 29 theaters from New York to Alaska, as well as Windsor in late March. Screenings of the 86-minute film are scheduled in Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Dallas, Memphis, San Diego and Anchorage, among other cities.

"BURN" follows members of east-side Engine Company 50, described as "one of the busiest firehouses in America." Filmmakers embedded with those firefighters for months and equipped some with helmet cameras to "explore human struggles, hope and personal courage in the face of overwhelming odds," as the independent feature film's website puts it.

The film's Detroit debut Sept. 28 at the Filmore downtown drew about 2,000 people, including firefighters from around the country. It returned to the area Dec. 7-13, when theaters in Livonia and Sterling Heights each had five daily screenings.

It also has played in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
