The Tigers can't win -- not even with their ACE, their Secret Weapon, their Atom Bomb, Justin Verlander.
The sagging team lost again Thursday afternoon in Cleveland, going down for the third straight time to the Indians, this time by a score of 2-1.
Don't blame Verlander. He pitched 8 solid innings and gave up two runs.
To make matters worse, coach Jim Leyland and first base coach Tom Brookens (pictured below) were ejected in the 5th inning for arguing with the ump over whether the Cleveland pitcher had balked on the mound while pitching to Andy Dirks.
After being swept by the Indians, the team is off to Minnesota for a three game series, beginning Friday night.
Ok. It's still early in the season. But at this point, it would have been far easier to accept the losses had the fans expected, from the get-go, that they were going to suck. -- A.L.
