You know you've finally arrived in life when you're the subject of a Saturday Night Live skit.
Ex- Detroit 36th District Judge Leon Jenkins -- who lost his judgeship after being indicted on bribery charges in the late 1980s -- was one of the characters featured in a skit on LA Clippers' owner Donald Sterling. Jenkins was acquitted of all the charges and eventually became the head of the LA chapter of the NAACP.
On Thursday, Jenkins resigned from the NAACP amid concerns that the chapter took donations from Sterling and was about to give him his second award. The first award came in 2009 after Sterling had reached a settlement with the Justice Department for refusing to rent apartments to blacks and Latinos.
In the skit on Saturday night, Donald Sterling, played by SNL actor Bobby Moyniihan, introduces Jenkins at a press conference.
But before he does, Sterling says:
"This ordeal has damaged my close relationship with the LA chapter of the NAACP. Oh my gosh, I love the NAACP and not just because that they're the people who freely let me use the word 'colored." They've tried to give back my donations so I raised them up to $10 million so now they've graciously agreed to give me a second lifetime achievement award"
Jenkins, played by actor Kenan Thompson, then steps up to the podium and seems at a loss for words.
"Come on...$10 million.. c'mon. look man, a lot of y'all want to go to college, right? What, I'm not going to take the money? This is the biggest donation we got since Michael Richards gave us an Escalade."
