Quentin Hines, the CEO of the locally-based Rivals Professional Football League, and a graduate of Mount Clemens High School, says he was shocked by the remark from a bartender at Madison's Pub in downtown Mount Clemens on St. Patrick's Day.
Don Gardner of The Macomb Daily reports that Hines, who had been on the payroll of the New England Patriots, but reached a injury settlement last year, was socializing with friends on Thursday night with friends, enjoying some drinks and chicken wings, when he got into a discussion with his waiter over the timeliness of paying his bill. He'd been there for about an hour.
“Just pay your tab, n-----,” Hines said the bartender told him, according to The Macomb Daily. He said when he got the bill he was also shocked to see the receipt had "Black Guy" written on it. He asked the bartender to talk to the manager, and the bartender said he was the manager.
"I had no conflict with the guy,” Hines said of the bartender, according to the paper. “I don’t know what could have prompted that. I didn’t do anything wrong. I just wanted to go out and have a good time. A lady standing next to me went crazy on the bartender. She was really upset about it.”
He said he paid his tab and left.
On its Facebook page, Madison’s Pub responded:
“In response to Mr. Hines posting, Madison’s Pub would like our customers and Mr. Hines to know that we will immediately investigate this matter and take whatever corrective action is necessary.
