Ex-Pistons star Ben Wallace, a beloved player in Detroit,  was known for his hustle on the basketball court.

On Tuesday, he apparently hustled away from his Cadillac Escalade after crashing through a fence and hitting a tree in Hernico, Va. last month.

Station WWBT reports that Wallace pleaded no contest in court Tuesday to leaving the scene of an accident.

He was sentenced to a year in prison, with all but two days suspended. He was also ordered to pay $611 in court costs and fines,  the station reported. according to online court records. He was booked into  the Henrico West jail.

"That is not an unusual sentence," said NBC12 legal analyst Steve Benjamin. "It was not an attended vehicle, no one was injured and I'm guessing the property damage was less than $1,000. That constitutes as the misdemeanor form of hit and run and depending on what his record is, this is not an unusual sentence."

Wallace attended Virginia Union University and went on to play with the Washington Bullets,  Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers.
