Phil Frame, a former Associated Press and Automotive News writer locally, may plead guilty to federal child pornography charges, Jameson Cook of The Macomb Daily reports.
Federal authorities on Tuesday charged Frame, 62, of Shelby Township, with receiving child pornography from January 2013 to last September and possessing child pornography one day in September 2015. The charges carry penalties of up to 20 years in prison.
Authorities filed a criminal "information" document, which generally indicates that a guilty plea is coming.
“Both sides believe the case can be resolved short of a trial,” says defense attorney Stephen Rabaut. "There is no specific agreement as of right now.”
Frame , whose career includes county government work, also faces state charges in Macomb County Circuit Court.
He was public affairs director for the county Board of Commissioners from 2004-09 and at one point was a public relations representative for Matty Moroun’s Detroit International Bridge Co.
