Inkster’s former police chief Vicki Yost delivered some damaging testimony Tuesday in trial of ex-Inkster cop William Melendez who is charged in the beating of motorist Floyd Dent in January.
A video shows Melendez hitting Dent, 58, repeatedly in the head after a traffic stop.
Yost, who resigned after the incident, testified in Wayne County Circuit Court about a video on the traffic stop now seen around the country. .
“I was uncomfortable with it,” Yost said when asked about seeing the video, according to George Hunter of The Detroit News. “The video is hard to watch. Anyone would be foolish to say otherwise.”
According to The News, Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Robert Donaldson asked Yost: “Did you see anything on that video that justified 16 blows to the head?”
“No, I didn’t,” she replied.
