Ten child sex slaves in Metro Detroit and Flint were rescued from sex trade during a nationwide child-prostitution sweep over the weekend.
The local busts netted 59 arrests, including 18 alleged pimps.
Nationally,105 children were rescued and 150 adults were arrested, FBI officials said. The victims, almost all girls, ranged in age from 13 to 17.
Tresa Baldas of the Free Press writes:
FBI agents, along with local and state law enforcement officials, spent the last 72 hours combing the streets of 76 cities and scrutinizing websites, looking for child sex trafficking victims. According to the FBI, out of the 76 cities involved in the crackdown, the Detroit area saw the most pimp arrests and the second most juvenile recoveries. San Franscisco had the most child recoveries — 12 — but only 17 pimp arrests, one less than Detroit."
