No surprise here.

Federal prosecutors on Thursday filed briefs in the U.S. Court of Appeals in Cincinnati arguing that Kwame Kilpatrick shouldn't have his conviction overturned.

Robert Snell of the Detroit News reports that prosecutors argued that he can't prove his key claim that his defense attorneys had a conflict of interest in representing him.

"He abused his position as a public servant — using a nonprofit to fund personal expenses, extorting city contractors, and pocketing public money and bribes at every opportunity,"   Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Goetz wrote.

The brief was filed on the eve of Kilpatrick's harsh sentence of 28 years.
