The U.S. Attorney's Office in Detroit is one of the nation's most active in going former college students who have defaulted on their student loans.
In fact, the local feds sue defaulters at 10 times the rate of the national average.
That doesn’t mean more Michigan residents are stiffing the federal government on their loans – but it does mean they’re more likely to face legal consequences if they do.
