The Michigan Jewish Institute, a Metro Detroit college, is coming under federal scrutiny.
Niraj Warikoo of the Detroit Free Press reports that federal agents on Tuesday raided the Southfield offices. The paper reports that the school has come under questioning because of its finances and use of grants.
The institute is tied to the local chapter of the Chabad-Lubavitch, an Orthodox Jewish group with a growing campus in West Bloomfield, the Free Press reports.
The Forward, a national Jewish newspaper based in New York, said about 15 agents were involved in the raid, the Freep reports. Agents gathered employees into a room to get personal information and bring in boxes.
