Ferndale May Try to Shut Second Sketchy Motel

Last week the Ferndale City Council voted to deny a license for the Motorama Motel on 8 Mile Road to continue operating.

Now, the city is taking aim at the nearby 8 Wood Motel on 8 Mile Road, and may soon have a hearing to address the possibility of denying a license, Mike McConnell writes at The Daily Tribune.

Both motels have been a magnate for prostitution, drug use and other crimes.

“These motels are being used for drug use and drug sales,” Ferndale Police Chief Tim Collins tells  the Royal Oak paper.

Police said a man who overdosed on heroin and died on the front lawn of a house on Fielding in April 2015 got the heroin that was sold at the 8 Wood.
