The Woodward Avenue outpost of Madewell, a J. Crew division, lasted just three years. It'll sell women's clothes for one more week.

The fashion shop, open since early 2019 next to the Shinola Hotel, is downtown's third apparel retailer to shut this year. Détroit is the New Black, a next-door neighbor, locked up in February. A block away, Under Armour left in January.
Madewell leased space from Bedrock Detroit, the real estate division of Dan Gilbert's group of companies. The New York-based chain will stay open at Somerset Collection in Troy and Arbor Hills mall in Ann Arbor.
Crain's Detroit Business first reported the closing on Friday evening.
