It only took only four tries.
But the Detroit Pistons, who were not impressive the first three games of the season, finally won their first contest on Wednesday, beating the New York Knicks at the Palace by a score of 98-95. The Pistons are now 1-3. The Knicks are 2-3.
ESPN writes:
A year ago, the Detroit Pistons might have let the New York Knicks walk out of the Palace with a comeback victory.
Not this time.
The game wasn't so close for a while.
The Pistons had been up by 18.
"I was worried, because we had been up 18 and they had it to two at the end," Brandon Jennings said, according to ESPN. "You can't help thinking about all the games we let get away last season, but we found a way to get this one done. That means a lot, because we didn't want to be one of the last teams without a win."
New head coach Stan Van Gundy, who is in for one long season, was a happy man.
Hopefully for Van Gundy and Pistons fans, the win was not aberration.
