Nolan Finley of the Detroit News writes that the consent agreement "train is running off the track," and Gov. Rick Snyder needs to reconsider his decision and appoint an emergency manager for Detroit.
"A month after the governor, Mayor Dave Bing and the City Council signed off on a consent agreement to restructure Detroit, the squabbling, road-blocking, whining and wobbling continue uninterrupted," Finley says.
The biggest immediate problem: The Bing administration and the governor can't agree on an appointee for the important post of project manager. The deadline for naming the manager has passed.
