A legendary Midtown bar and restaurant patronized by generations of Detroiters has a serious fire Monday night, the Michigan Chronicle reports in a brief item with the accompanying photo.
Since 1936, Mr. Mikes Karaoke & Sports Bar had been providing Detroiters with an escape from the daily grind. Unfortunately the cozy lounge burned down yesterday evening. . . .
The lounge with a neighborhood bar feel drew a diverse crowd and specialized in great drinks and live entertainment. Located near the Wayne State University campus, it was a long-time favorite among students for its reasonable drink prices.

Mr. Mikes, which has no apostrophe in its name, was on the east side of Woodward at Burroughs. It featured karaoke on Saturday nights.
The paper, which has no details about the blaze yet, indicates its unbylined Tuesday afternoon article will be updated.
A blurb by Andrea Farmer at metromix says it "draws a diverse crowd and specializes in great drinks and entertainment."
