Tim Idzikowski, co-owner of a downtown food truck and catering company, tried Monday to reverse the damage done by his controversial comments he made on Facebook about the fatal shootings of two New York cops over the weekend.
"I want to apologize," Idzikowski, who co-owns the Detroit BBQ Company, tells WXYZ's Jonathan Carlson.
"I shouldn't have said what I said. I did not mean to take down a whole profession."
"I have partners, employees, they don't deserve this."

Following the New York shootings, Idzikowski posted this on Facebook:
"How many times did they think they were going to kick the hornets nest before they got stung? These guys "can't breathe" now either."
Then some Detroit cops responded, and he wrote:
"2 cops get killed and it's a (expletive) tragedy but you guys can run around killing people without fear of any reprisals because of your (expletive) badge and it's business as usual?"
"Why don't you try suck starting your service pistol."
Idzikowski says he's received death threats. He's also expected to lose business. WXYZ reports that on Monday, a number of clients issued statements saying they were cutting ties with the Detroit BBQ Company. Detroit cops had also called for a boycott of the company.
Monday evening, Idzkowski released a statement. Here's part of it:
“I want to express my deepest condolences and apology to the families of the fallen New York City Police Officers - senselessly killed last week; and the entire police community of officers who faithfully serve and protect in New York City, in Detroit and across our communities. The recent online comments on my personal Facebook page were initially made out of frustration – after seeing recent developments unfold regarding the Eric Garner incident in New York City.
