Fernando Palazuelo

It has been a long long time.

Steve Neavling of the Motor City Muckraker reports that for the first time in decades someone is paying property taxes on the abandoned Packard Plant.

Fernando Palazuelo of Peru, who bought the plant last December for $405,000, paid his delinquent tax bill this week after clearing up a dispute on the money owed, the Motor City Muckraker reports. The site does not say how much was paid.

The Detroit News in June reported that he owed about $91,000, plus interest and late fees.

Neavling reports that Palazuelo is pulling city permits to begin removing dangerous debris from the plant's former administration building.
