Alan Mulally

Alan Mulally, the top dog at Ford, will appearing in one of the more unlikely places for a buttoned-down Detroit auto executive: "The Colbert Report."

Yes, that's right.

Alisa Priddle of the Detroit Free Press reports that Mulally, who has been running around promoting the new rollout of the Ford  Mustang, will end up face-to-face with Stephen Colbert on Thursday night at 11:30 p.m. on Comedy Central.

The appearance, which airs at 11:30 p.m. on Comedy Central, will culminate a day-long media blitz to launch Ford’s 2015 Mustang. New York was one of six cities on four continents were Ford executives unveiled the next-generation pony car that will go on sale in the U.S. next fall and exported to Europe and Asia in 2015.

Colbert's website says this of Mulally:

"Alan Mulally talks about returning Ford to profitability after the recession."  -- A.L.
