Zurlon Tipton
Zurlon Tipton, a star running back for Central Michigan University who went on to play a couple seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, accidentally shot himself at a Roseville car dealership Tuesday morning and died at the hospital, the Detroit Free Press reports. Tipton had brought his Jeep in to be serviced.
Christina Hall and Brian Manzullo of the Detroit Free Press report that Tipton, 26, reached into his vehicle to get a bag containing two guns and one of the guns, a .45 caliber semi-automatic, accidentally discharged, hitting him, Roseville police said. Tipton had a concealed pistol license.
The incident took place at a service bay at Mike Riehl's Roseville Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, 25800 Gratiot, the Freep reports.
Tipton, a Detroit native, played high school football at Sterling Heights Parkway Christian, then played at Central Michigan from 2010-13, the Freep reports. He played in a combined 13 games in the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He was waived from the team in 2015.
