Sherri Welch reports in Crain's Detroit Business that Airea Inc., a Farmington Hills-based Haworth office furniture dealer owned by former Detroit Pistons guard Vinnie Johnson, has signed a seven-year lease for 2,500 square feet of space on the ground floor of the Compuware building in Detroit.

It's investing $700,000, Johnson told Welch, to turn the space into a venue for selling office furniture and also a place for people from the building to hang out and meeting spot for the Detroit design and business community.

The new business activity downtown drew Airea to Detroit, Johnson said. "It's the right thing to do to support the growth, and I want to be a part of it," he said.
