An 84-year-old business magazine known for "listicles" long before BuzzFeed fed buzz or Gawker was gawking has a new one of local interest.

Fortune's 2014 trend forecasts speculations, headlined "The Fortune crystal ball," include "our bets for 2014's breakout towns" -- called "the next Brooklyns."

Louisville, Cleveland and Detroit make the list, in that order of presumed likelihood. Chattanooga and Newark are runners-up.

Detroit. College-educated settlers under 35 are drawn to sub-$1,000 rents and the chance to be pioneers. A telltale sign of change: NO HIPSTER graffiti tags showing up around town. Odds: 39%

There's no explanation for the uncredited list's made-up percentage.

On a more downbeat note, a second list under that one suggests "breakdown towns," aka "New Detroits."

They are, in order of prediction: Fresno, Calif., the whole commonwealth of Puerto Rico and Woonsocket, R.I. Second-tier candidates are Atlantic City and Gary, Ind.

In other words, Fortune believes someplace else will overtake the D this year as America's No. 1 example of municipal breakdown. Feel better now?
