Michigan chefs are getting some nice acknowledgements from the Big Apple.
Crain's Detroit Business reports that four chefs have been named semi-finalists for awards from the New York-based James Beard Foundation. James Andrew Beard, who died in 1985, was an American cookbook author, teacher, syndicated columnist and television personality.
Crain's reports that Ferndale's Torino Executive Chef Garrett Lipar is a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation's 2015 Rising Star of the Year award.
