Citing sources, Alexis Wiley of Fox 2 reports Mayor-elect Mike Duggan has named the first members of his new administration, though nothing is announced officially.

The cabinet members are:

  • Lisa Howze, a CPA whose run for mayor this year was unsuccessful, will become chief of staff. She supported Duggan shortly after placing third in August's primary.
  • Ike McKinnon, the chief of police under Mayor Dennis Archer, will serve as deputy mayor.
  • Butch Hollowell, who has done elections work for the NAACP, will be corporate counsel, the city's top lawyer.
  • Charlie Beckham, who served umder Coleman Young and Dave Bing, will oversee the Department of Neighborhoods.
  • John Hill will be chief financial officer.

Howze and McKinnon have headed Duggan's transition team since last month.

Nolan Finley reported in Wednesday's Detroit News that Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr will hand over considerable operations authority to Duggan, who becomes mayor Jan. 1. Under Orr, the outgoing mayor, Dave Bing, was stripped of virtually all operations duties and was left basically complaining about his plight.

He also reported Thursday that the city's new  development guru will be Duggan's attorney and longtime friend Thomas Lewand Sr. .
