Free Press staff photographers took all three of the top honors at the Michigan Press Photographers Associations annual competition this year.
Ryan Garza, a former Flint Journal photographer who joined the paper in December, was named Photographer of the Year.
Brian Kaufman was named multimedia photographer of the year and Romain Blanquart earned the Barry Edmonds Michigan Understanding Award for his work documenting everyday life in Detroit.
