The "freezer mom" as she is known in the media told a judge Friday that she wants to scrap her trial in the murder of her two children. 9 and 15, who were stuffed in a freezer, and plead guilty, the Detroit News reports.
Oralander Brand-WIliams of the News reports that Mitchelle Blair, the Detroit mom told Detroit 36th District Court Judge Kenneth King:
"I'm already saying I did it. I'm expecting to get life in prison."
"I did what I did for my babies."
Judge King said he needs both reports from the two doctors who performed competency exams on her before deciding if she can plead guilty to first-degree murder.
"This is a sensitive situation," King told Blair, according to the News. "We have to make sure all of our T's are crossed and I's dotted."
During the hearing, she was found competent to stand trial in Wayne County Circuit Court. She waived a preliminary examination.
