There are certain holidays when a Detroiter wants to celebrate Detroit-style. Opening day, fireworks before Independence Day and St. Patrick's Day.
Last year, St. Patrick's Day was the last real party before Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ordered bars and restaurants to close in the rapidly spreading pandemic of Covid-19. This year, with the state cautiously coming back to life, vaccination ramping up and a pleasant sun shining down on a mild late-winter day, the mood was different.
Deadline Detroit hit a few St. Paddy's hot spots in the city (not in the viral sense).
