The rumbling sound of heavy truck engines and machinery is quite common these days along Woodward Avenue, just north of the Fisher Freeway, where construction is underway for the new Red Wings hockey arena.
The plan is to say goodbye to the Joe and move into the new 20,000-seat arena for the 2017 season. The Red Wings have played at the Joe since 1979. Before that, the they played at the Olympia on Grand River.
We decided to take a peek beyond the fences that mark the area.
