DETROIT JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION_2019
Juneteenth, commemorated each June 19, celebrates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the former Confederate States of America.
In celebration, the City of Detroit’s Department of Civil Rights, Inclusion and Opportunity (CRIO), hosted an event Wednesday at Spirit Plaza in downtown Detroit to mark the day. It event included a traveling exhibit from the Charles Wright Museum of African American History and performances by the Mosaic Youth Scholars Choir.
