Karla Hederson photographed the 32nd annual St. Patrick's race from her loft overlooking Michigan Avenue and the Lodge.

"Whose idea was this?" 33-year-old wine entrepreneur Cortney Casey of Macomb Township tweeted as she prepared for a 5K run in Corktown at 9 a.m. on a b-r-r-isk Sunday. One of her tags: #windchillnegative2.

And then came this about 90 minutes later from a WDIV cameraman covering the St. Patrick's Day Parade on Michigan Avenue:

Anthony Ambroselli, a 25-year-old Detroiter, avoided that slushy beer hardship by watching from a barstool. "Lovely day for a #Guinness," the Deloitte & Touche senior auditor tweeted at 10:17 a.m. with a snapshot of a foamy draught.

A 15-degree thermometer reading didn't keep other hardy celebrants from partying hearty, as they show via these Instagrammed and tweeted photos.
