Well, it's too late for a good old fashion exorcism for state Rep. Cindy Gamrut, the conservative, Tea Party, family values lawmaker, who got mixed up in an affair that has rocked the doldroms out of Lansing.
So she threw out some mea culpas at a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday and asked that she be censured rather than expelled, all in hopes of saving her job, Chad Livengood of the Detroit News reports.
She admitted to misusing taxpayer resources and misconduct in office and read a statement:
“It is my hope through taking responsibility...that healing and restoration can begin,” Gamrat said, fighting back tears, according to the News.
“These decisions have dishonored God, my family, my district and my fellow representatives. And for that I am truly sorry."
