Well, that didn't take too long.

Bobby Ferguson, who was convicted Monday on nine public corruption counts, will face a retrial May 21 in federal court in Detroit in another case that resulted in a mistrial last year after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict.

The judge in that case, David M. Lawson, unsealed a court document on Monday disclosing the retrial date,  the same day Ferguson was convicted with buddy Kwame Kilpatrick. Both are in federal prison in Milan awaiting sentencing.

In the retrial, Ferguson, Michael Woodhouse and Calvin Hall, are charged in a bid-rigging contract case.  Ferguson also faces weapons-related charges. -- Allan Lengel
