Ann Arbor is the most educated city in the U.S.  based on a comparison of the 150 largest metropolitan statistical areas in the country, a study by WalletHub finds.

The study was based on  data that includes those aged 25 and older with a bachelor’s degree or higher, quality of the public school system and the gender education gap.

The Washington, D.C. metropolitan area ranks second, followed by San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara in California; Durham-Chapel Hill in North Carolina and Madison, Wisc.

The report says:

In states where workers have the least schooling, for instance, the median wage is $15 an hour compared with $19 to $20 an hour in states where 40 percent or more of the working population hold a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Local governments appear to be catching on and maximizing the appeal of their cities to college graduates.
