Halo Burger, a Michigan creation that predates the Depression (the original one), is coming to Metro Detroit and getting a bit fancier.

Choices include a jalopena cheeseburger, though menus spell it Halo-pena.

Sites in Novi, Bingham Farms, Troy and Brighton will have flat-screen TVs, table service and no outside pickup lanes.

Sylvia Rector dishes it up in the Free Press:

Flint’s iconic Halo Burger chain is expanding in Oakland County, with at least four new locations set to open by the end of the year -- all featuring a retooled concept that includes a larger menu, upgraded food items and table service in the dining room.

The Genesee County company, which traces its roots to 1923, is switching from a quick-serve, or fast-food, format with drive-through windows to a more upscale quick-casual approach.

After ordering at a counter, dine-in patrons will wait at tables for their food.

Details on locations and menu changes are at the link below.
