Hazel Park's Mabel Gray Restaurant Officially Opens Today

The words "Hazel Park" and "hip" have seldom been spoken in the same sentence.

That could be changing.

Melody Baetens of The Detroit News writes that Mabel Gray, a highly anticipated suburban restaurant openings, opens to the general public on Tuesday at 23825 John R . The restaurant will be open Tuesday-Saturday, from 4 p.m. until 10 or 11 p.m.

Chef James Rigato and business partner Ed Mamou are behind the restaurant. They operate the popular Root Restaurant & Bar in White Lake.

Rigato tells the News that the soft openings they've had have gone well. Some of the dishes served have been rabbit, crispy Indian brook trout and beef tartare.
