The Tigers and Indians waited all afternoon Thursday for rain to stop and baseball to begin.

In the end, the soggy sky won out and the game was canceled. It could be made up on Monday if it has implications for the Tigers or for the Indians for postseason seeding, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

As of Thursday afternoon, Detroit trails Baltimore by one game for the last wild card spot. They're two games behind the Toronto Blue Jays. The Orioles play the Blue Jays tonight in Toronto.

The Tigers head to Atlanta for the final three games of the season, a series that begins Friday night.

The good news is that Atlanta is in last place in its division. The bad news is that they're hot, winning the last nine of 10 games.

It should be sunny in Atlanta, with temperatures expected to be in the 70s and 80s.
