A crew from the celebrated news show "60 Minutes" has been roaming Detroit his week, interviewing people and shooting scenes for a story about America's favorite bankrupt city.

On Tuesday, correspondent Bob Simon walked down Woodward Avenue downtown, chatting with Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert as a cameraman loomed in front of them, no doubt shooting one of the show's trademark close-ups.

(Fashion note: Gilbert has a goatee going these days.)

Simon, a longtime foreign corespondent, is one of the most honored journalists in television; his career was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Emmy in September 2003.

It was hard to miss the crew. There were 14 people in all, including Quicken employees and others, moving in a slow-motion scrum down the otherwise quiet street.

Producers for the show have been working on the story for weeks, doing research, talking to experts and searching for the je ne sais quoi that makes Detroit Detroit.

There's no word yet on the when the segment will air.
