During the Democratic National Convention last year, Khizr Khan, the Gold Star father brandished the Constitution.

"Donald Trump, you're asking Americans to trust you with their future. Let me ask you, have you even read the United States Constitution?" Khan said, producing a pocket Constitution. "I will gladly lend you my copy. In this document, look for the words 'liberty' and 'equal protection of law.'"

More recently, President Trump signed two executive orders banning people from certain predominantly Muslim countries from entering the U.S. Federal judges blocked those orders based on questions about the Constitution.

Obviously, there are some who think Trump could use a refersher course on the Constitution. Here's an ideal opportunity.

Hillsdale College in western Michigan offers its Constitution 101 course free for all Americans to take online. It's a required class at Hillsdale, regardless of major.

School President Larry P. Arnn says:

Fellow American,

One of the greatest gifts God has given Americans is our freedom. Even with all the turmoil and oppression we see in the world around us, we still too often take these freedoms for granted.

In our great country, the Constitution is the document that protects it. After the Bible, it is the single most important document in the world. Most Americans think they know it well, since they learned about it in school.

But far too few Americans truly understand the Constitution, and the freedoms it protects.
