The latest business entry in blossoming Midtown Detroit is a "home grown" clothing store that will sell locally designed T-shirts, hoodies, jackets, jogging suits and camouflage pants.

Co-owner Antonio Jones

The store, AYV Midtown at 4100 Woodward, will have its grand opening Sunday at 1-7 p.m.

A press release promotes the distinctions of the clothing line -- "street smarts, book smarts and fashion sense."

Anthony Temple, 38, a co-owner and native Detroiter, says he has been designing the line of AYV clothing as a hobby for the past 14 years, with the thought of one day opening a retail outlet.

"I would design things and show it to friends and give away a lot of it," said Temple.

Temple is excited about the launch of his new business.

So is his partner, Antonio Jones, 32, who has been in the retail and marketing business and is local disc jockey at Floods Bar & Grille and the Greektown Casino.

"I'm super-excited," said Jones. "We want to contribute to the growth and economic development of Detroit. We're born and raised here."
