The Leland Hotel, a 1927 building in downtown Detroit at Cass and Bagley, will undergo a $120-million renovation, starting later this year, writes Candice Williams of The Detroit News.

By March 2020, it'll be converted to 339 apartments with a 650-space parking deck.

The former four-star hotel currently has 150 residential tenants, as well as commercial and retail tenants. It serves extended-stay guests with furnished rooms and utilities. Residents will stay while work begins on the vacant units, and then can move into renovated apartments as upgrades continue..
