Eminem and Matthew Hughes

Eminem and Matthew Hughes
A homeless man obsessed with Eminem will be sentenced to time served and five years probation after pleading no contest Thursday to second-degree home invasion for breaking into the rapper's Clinton Township home in April 2020, The Macomb Daily reports in a subscribers-only post.
"No contest" means that you admit to the facts of the case but do not plead guilty.
Matthew Hughes, 28, has been in the county jail since the break-in and will be released after sentencing Sept. 22. He will have served 17 months.
In exchange for his plea, authorities dismiss charges of first-degree home invasion, malicious destruction of property between $1,000 and $20,000 and assault of a jail employee.
Hughes broke into Eminem’s home in Manchester Estates at Heydenreich Road and Cass Avenue about 4 a.m. last year, just weeks into the start of the pandemic. He broke a kitchen door window with a brick and was arrested after Eminem convinced him to leave.
In June 2019, he was arrested for illegally entering a Rochester Hills home that Eminem had sold two years before. He told the owners he was looking for the rapper. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
