Mitchell Young
Hopefully this wraps up the homicidal craziness in upscale suburbia for a while.
In recent months we've seen the dark side of suburbia up close. In March, 75-year-old grandma Sandra Layne was convicted in Oakland County Circuit Court of murdering her grandson in her West Bloomfield Township home.
And now this.
On Friday, an Oakland County Circuit jury found Mitchell Young guilty of first-degree murder in the baseball bat beating death of Robert Cipriano at his Farmington Hills home last year. Young was also convicted in the brutal attack on other Cipriano family member. Sentencing is set for July 23.
Young's friend Tucker Cipriano pleaded no contest in the case last week to first-degree murder in the death of his adoptive father, Robert Cipriano. He will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Authorities alleged that Tucker Cipriano, 20, and Young broke into the Farmington Hills home of Tucker’s family to steal items and a car. But when confronted by Cipriano’s father, they beat him to death. The mother and brother were also badly beaten. -- Allan Lengel
