Descriptions of alleged sexual harassment at Dearborn's branch of  the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee are being gathered by a lawyer hired to investigate regional director Imad Hamad.

National executives placed him on leave in June amid accusations that he sexually harassed female employees and interns for 15 years, Naraj Warikoo of the Free Press reports in an update on the situation.

The investigator — an attorney based in metro Detroit — has interviewed Hamad and several women who have accused him of harassing them in the workplace. It’s not clear how many women are making allegations. . . .

Complainants include state Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Detroit, who says Hamad harassed her years ago.

“I would be outraged and shocked if Imad Hamad would be able to return to ADC based on the number of women who have come forward during this independent investigation,” Tlaib told the Free Press. “He has hurt too many women.”

Though officials at the civil rights group's headquarters in Washington tell the Free Press that Hamad isn't working for the largest chapter, he's still pictured on its website home page and identified atop the staff directory as regional director and and senior national advisor for public affairs.

The unnamed harassment investigator is a woman, Warikoo notes.
