Protesters on Saturday

Dozens of people attended a rally Saturday on Van Dyke, just north of 23 Mile Road in Shelby Township to protest Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's stay-home order, which has closed scores of businesses.

CPA Jim Valente, an "Open Michigan Now" protestor, was among those in attendance who made it very clear he's not buying what the governor's selling.

"A lot of it's fake, some of it's real but a lot of it's fake," Valente tells Jennifer Ann Wilson of WXYZ.

"It’s like World War II, we fought for our freedoms and a bunch of people died," Valente said. "If I get sick, I get sick, and I don’t believe the masks are helping anybody."

Many attended the rally without masks and failed to practice social distancing. Some held Trump posters and homemade signs about personal freedoms. Some were business owners desperate to reopen.
